A Primary Name in the Fuel Name Service (FNS) is a unique domain that is directly associated with your wallet address. Setting a primary name allows others to identify your wallet using this human-readable domain instead of a complex address. This enhances your identity on the Fuel blockchain and simplifies transactions.

Key Points About Primary Names:

• Single Association: You can have only one primary name linked to your wallet address at any given time.

• Ownership Required: You must own the domain (NFT) to set it as your primary name.

• Flexibility: You can change your primary name at any time through the domain’s configuration settings.

How to Set Up Your Primary Name in Domain Configuration

During Domain Registration:

1. Toggle “Use as Primary Name”:

• On the domain registration page, you’ll see an option labeled “Use as Primary Name”.

• Toggle this option to enable it if you want the domain you’re minting to be set as your primary name immediately.

• Note: If you already had primary name, that will be reassigned automatically to your address

2. Proceed with Registration

• Continue with the registration process by selecting the registration duration and clicking “Register”.

• Confirm the transaction in your wallet to complete the minting process.

After Domain Registration:

1. Navigate to “My Domains”:

• Access your account and go to the “My Domains” section to view all the domains you own.

2. Select the Desired Domain:

• Click on the domain you wish to set as your primary name to access its configuration settings.

3. Set as Primary Name:

• In the domain settings, locate the “Use as primary name” option.

• Click this option to designate the selected domain as your primary name.

• Confirm transaction in your wallet. That is required to finalize the change.

4. Confirm the Change:

• Once set, your new primary name will be associated with your wallet address.

Important Notes:

• Only One Primary Name: Remember, you can have only one primary name active at a time. Setting a new primary name will replace the previous one.

• Changing or Removing Primary Name:

• To change your primary name, simply set a different owned domain as your new primary name following the steps above.

• To remove your primary name without assigning a new one, go to your domain settings and select the option to unset your primary name.
